If you are recovering from back problems then walking, cycling and swimming are great because they are low impact for the joints and spine. Walking for about an every day will lead to fewer back problems.
Really it is simple, movement and exercise are key. It is what we are designed to do and life has become so sedentary for many. Start somewhere and start now, no matter how small or how little time you have. Even if it is a ten minute walk or ten star jumps. If you are in extreme pain, seek advice but a gentle pelvic tilt is probably what you should aim for.
Go careful with yoga. It is great for you in many but if you have challenges with your back you could over stretch and do more harm than good. Working on strength with pilates would be advisable before moving on to yoga. Build your strength first, then your flexibility.
Try some safe squats, cat curls, pelvic tilts and knee to chest stretches are all ideal whilst you’re building strength.
Movement is key as part of your self care. Going to the chiropractic or any other therapist is enormously important but you must do what is suggested by the experts.
Talk to your chiropractor or massage therapist about how best to incorporate exercise to your daily routine. Chiropractic Doctors and other therapists at Crawley and Horley Spinal Health will guide you as to the best exercise and even check your technique.
