What to Expect
A comprehensive health assessment
Your first visit is often described by patients as the most comprehensive health assessment they have experienced. We focus our attention on finding out what is happening in your body and identifying the cause of your pain and symptoms.
Our aim is to find out if we can help with your specific problem.
We will clearly explain what you can expect at our clinic and how chiropractic or spinal therapy could benefit you, and your family.
You will be welcomed by our friendly and knowledgeable reception team and asked to fill out a detailed health questionnaire before you meet your practitioner. Your practitioner will then spend some time going through the details of your complaint and any relevant history and lifestyle factors. You will then have a thorough examination, including testing the function of your spine and nervous system and relevant functional and orthopaedic tests specific to your condition.
Our practitioners are experts at detecting spinal dysfunction, and we can quickly find out if we can help you or if we need to refer you to another health professional or for further testing such as scans or blood tests. If our findings show that your case matches the criteria, then there is no other therapy or treatment that is likely to help you as much.
X-rays can usually be taken immediately if required.
We will discuss with you if we feel you need to have x-rays taken and clearly explain the costs involved. X-rays help us to see exactly what is the condition, structure and alignment of your spine and often prove invaluable in getting the best result for you.
In most cases, you will then return for your second visit, so your practitioner has time to review your case and analyse your x-rays, if taken. At this visit you will have a report of findings where we explain your problem and how we can help, how long it may take and the costs involved. You will be able to ask any questions and if you are happy to commence care, it can begin right away.
There are three stages of our Care Plan
Corrective/ Restorative Care
During the corrective stage of your care, your nervous system will be functioning better which will be giving your body the best possible chance to heal more optimally. The goal of the Corrective phase is to remove the root cause of your problem and to restore your bodies functioning back to as close to 100% as we can get you. Again, this phase of care is very dependent on how severe the problem is and how long it has been there. The frequency of care may still be multiple visits per week, but perhaps not as frequent as in the relief phase.
Finally, once your body has had the chance to heal, it is important to continue with maintenance or wellness care by attending periodic adjustments and/or Laser or MBST therapy in order to promote further healing and avoid further problems in the future and ensure your body is functioning at its optimum. Your health goals together with your practitioner’s best advice will determine the frequency of care you are comfortable with.
If you are in pain when you first visit us at one of our clinics, our first goal would be to help you relieve that pain as soon as possible. Depending on how severe the underlying health challenge which is causing your pain is, will determine the length of this phase. Typically the number of visits in this phase is normally at its highest frequency and may require multiple visits each week.
