Restricted movement, muscle spasm and pain can all occur around the hip joint.
There are various reasons that hip pain occurs. It can be a direct result of a hip based issue such as osteoarthritis and tendonitis, or can be referred pain from elsewhere. With referred pain it often manifests in the hip joint when a nerve is pinched in the lumber region of the back. The pain signals travel along the nerve and pain occurs where the nerve passes or ends.
