Could your body be asking for support?
Your nervous system is responsible for communication between your brain and body. It helps control movement, respond to your environment and regulate many of the processes that keep you functioning day to day.
But when life becomes physically or emotionally demanding, your nervous system can sometimes struggle to switch between being “on” and being able to properly relax and recover. This is often described as nervous system dysregulation.
What does dysregulation feel like?
Everyone experiences stress differently, but signs that yourbody may be struggling to regulate can include:
· Feeling constantly tense or “on edge”
· Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
· Muscle tension and aches
· Feeling overwhelmed or easily irritated
· Changes in energy or concentration
· Finding it difficult to recover from stress or physical activity
These symptoms can have many causes, so dysregulation isn't a diagnosis. However, they can be useful signals that your body may need some extra attention.
Supporting your nervous system

Looking after your nervous system isn't just about one treatment. Sleep, movement, exercise, relaxation and managing stress all play an important role.
Spinal care can also form part of a wider approach to wellbeing. Spinal care focuses on the relationship between the spine, joints and movement. At The Spinal Health Clinics, we combine appropriate chiropractic adjustments and spinal therapy with exercises and movement advice to help support how your body functions.
Many people also find massage therapy helpful when they're carrying muscular tension or simply need time to relax. Massage provides sensory input through touch and pressure and can help promote relaxation and ease muscular tension.
The two approaches can complement each other: Spinal care can focus on movement and spinal function, while massage can be particularly useful for muscular tension and relaxation.
Listen to your body's signals
Your body is constantly communicating with you. Sometimes tension, poor sleep or feeling unable to switch off can be a sign that it's time to slow down and pay attention.
If you'd like to find out whether spinal care or massage therapy could be suitable for you, our team is here to help you and your family.
Best wishes
