Your body still loves Ice
With the sunshine making an appearance, the last thing most of us want to think about is anything cold. Ice cream? Yes. Icepack? Maybe not!
But if your chiropractor or massage therapist has ever handed you an ice pack after treatment and said, "Use this when you get home," there's a very good reason why.
Why ice?
After an adjustment or deep tissue massage, your body gets to work healing and adapting to the changes that have been made. This can sometimes create a mild inflammatory response, completely normal and often asign that your body is responding.
Applying an ice pack for 10–15 minutes can help to:
- Reduce inflammation
- Calm irritated muscles and joints
- Minimise post-treatment soreness
- Ease discomfort
- Support your body's natural recovery process
Think of it as giving your body a little helping hand while it settles into its new, healthier position.

But it's so hot...
We get it, when temperatures are soaring, the thought of wrapping yourself in an ice pack isn't exactly appealing. The good news? On a warm day it can feel surprisingly refreshing and your muscles and joints will thank you for it.
It might seem like a small step, but icing after treatment can make a big difference to how you feel over the next 24–48 hours. It's one of the simplest ways to maximise the benefits of your chiropractic adjustment or massage.
So next time we remind you to grab the ice pack, remember we're not trying to cool you down from the weather... we're helping your body recover, heal, and perform at its best.
